VP of academic affairs moves into final round

Laramie County Community College’s vice president of academic affairs has made it into the final round to become the next president of Cerritos College in California.

Dr. Jose Fierro, who joined LCCC in 2013, has been named one of two finalists for the positon, and a team of at least three trustees and the college’s search consultant, Dr. Edward Hernandez, will conduct a site visit in Cheyenne on Tuesday, April 17.

The other finalist is Dr. Angelica Loera Suarez, vice president, student affairs, of Southwestern College in Chula Vista, California, and her site visit was March 25.

Five finalists made presentations at the Norwalk, California, campus in early March. The other candidates were Dr. Monte Perez, president of Los Angeles Mission College; Dr. Peter Perhac, president of the Steamboat campus of Colorado Mountain College; and Dr. Rajen Ramalingum Vurdien, president of Fullerton College in California.

Cerritos College expects the new president to assume the position on July 1. The position became open when Dr. Linda L. Lacy announced her retirement last year. Cerritos College is a public community college with an enrollment of more than 21,000 students.
