Original college architect dies

The original architect of Laramie County Community College, Morris D. Kemper, 88, died April 2, 2012, in Cheyenne.

Born Aug. 31, 1923, he grew up in Tarkio, Mo., and graduated from the University of Wyoming with an engineering degree. During World War II, he served as a combat engineer and was awarded two Bronze Stars and a Victory Medal.

An architect for more that 50 years, Kemper also designed the Civic Center, the Herscheler Building and several building at Warren AFB.

Kemper also bred and showed Arabian horses.

His funeral was April 5. Those who wish may contribute to the Davis Hospice Center
