Portley named to All-American Team

Laramie County Community College’s Deshon Portley has been named one of the nation’s best basketball players. A freshman point guard on the Golden Eagles men’s basketball team, Portley earned an honorable mention on the All-American Team of the National Junior College Athletic Association. He’s the first LCCC basketball All-American since 1987.

In late March, Portley was named as one of only six players on the All-Region IX First Team. Portley is one of only nine freshmen honored as NJCAA All-Americans.

Portley, a general studies major, is from Plano, Texas, who averaged 18.6 points, 5.2 assists, and 3.7 rebounds per game during the 2012-2013 season.
