From interim to full-time

Lisa Murphy named associate vice president of institutional advancement

Laramie County Community College has named Lisa Murphy as the new associate vice president of institutional advancement. The position serves as the head of the college's Foundation and oversees the public relations department.

Murphy served as the college's director of public relations for seven years and for the last nine months has been the interim associate vice president. A national search was mounted to fill the role permanently, and LCCC Foundation Board Chair Ron Rabou said many well-qualified applicants came forward.

"When our interview process was complete, it was the community ties, strength of existing relationships and a proven record of performance and leadership that pushed Lisa Murphy to the top," he said. "She will be a tremendous asset to our organization and to LCCC, and I am confident that her leadership will help guide us to unprecedented heights."

LCCC President Dr. Joe Schaffer said Murphy has done an exceptional job of leading both the Foundation and the public relations department as an interim associate vice president.

"Lisa has a deep passion for the college, for our community and for Wyoming," he said. "People know her and respect her. She has an impressive track record and history at LCCC, and I know she will continue the progress she has already started in establishing the college's institutional advancement office. We are fortunate to have her."

Murphy came to LCCC from the Wyoming Department of Transportation in 2005, where she was the public relations director. She earned her master of arts from the University of Wyoming and her bachelor of arts from Colorado State University. She took summer courses at LCCC during her undergraduate career.
