The Laramie County Community College Children’s Discovery Center held a Thanksgiving dinner Nov. 22 in Arp Room 129 and Auto Diesel Room 121.

Stephanie Fisher, assistant manager of the CDC, said the center was expecting only about 10 families, but 75 attended.

The dinner in the Arp Building had 39 attendees, including LCCC College Council President Jodi Weppner and instructional designer of distributed learning and outreach Trina Kilty and their children. Renny MacKay, communication director for Gov. Matt Mead, also attended with his son. The dinner in the Auto Diesel Building had 36 in attendance.

“This really surprised us,” Fisher said. She said the CDC had invited families the day prior to the dinner, so the number of attendees was pleasing.

Fisher said this is the first year the CDC has held a Thanksgiving dinner and the idea was suggested by the parent advisory board.
