Former students win national design awards

Laramie County Community College's student newspaper, Wingspan, captured four individual awards called Gold Circle awards in New York City in early November in a national contest competing with four-year universities.

The awards were presented by the Columbia Scholastic Press Association for the June 2010–June 2011 contest year.

Staff members who captured Gold Circle awards were as follows:

Tray, who was Wingspan Online editor, is now the chief copy editor for the Branding Iron at the University of Wyoming. and Tucker, who was Wingspan sports editor, is now the sports editor for the Douglas Budget.

Wingspan advisers are Rosalind Schliske and J.L. O'Brien.

The CSPA has been operated as part of Columbia University's Graduate School of Journalism since 1925.

Awards are given to newspapers, yearbooks and magazines.
