Eagles' basketball begins season 0-2

The Laramie County Community College basketball team lost to New Mexico Junior College 77-60 Nov. 12 in the Eastern Wyoming Classic in Torrington.

Julian Chiera led the Eagles with 13 points. Philip Freeman had 11 points and five assists, and Ude Ifeanyichuckwu had 10 points and 11 rebounds.

LCCC power forward Rodrigo Silva sat out most of the game because of an injury suffered Nov. 11 during the game against Sheridan College.

The Eagles lost the Sheridan game at the wire 78-76 when Sheridan’s Robert Heyer’s scored a goal with 13 seconds remaining in the game.

The Eagles were led by Freeman, who had 29 points. Silva had 21 points, 12 rebounds and six blocks, Charles Cooks had 12 points, and Bruno Machado had two points and 13 rebounds.

The Eagles will play the Fort Collins All-Stars Nov. 18 and Garden City Community College Nov. 19 at home during the Golden Eagle Classic.
