Photography winner emerges from local photo walk

Cerrina Smith

Cerrina Smith’s photograph “Wyoming Hereford Ranch” was named best photo for the fifth annual “Worldwide Photo Walk” held Oct. 14 at the historic Wyoming Hereford Ranch southeast of Cheyenne.

The photograph featured light cast through a window onto another window frame setting inside one of the ranch’s barn. Smith is a training and curriculum specialist for youth programs at F.E. Warren Air Force Base. She is from Wolftown, Va.

More than 50 photographers participated in the local event sponsored by Laramie County Community College’s mass media/multimedia department. Wanda Milton’s work placed second; Lon Pfau took third, and Carla Goranson and Heather Gawith were awarded honorable mentions.

J.L. O’Brien, multimedia instructor, said the event was designed to bring together a group of photographers on one day for a short period of time to shoot a specific area. Simultaneously, similar walks took place around the world that weekend. This year, nearly 32,000 photographers walked in more than 1,300 locations.
