Basketball center moving on to live his dream

Laramie County Community College’s Ude Ifeanyichukwu signed a letter of intent to attend and play basketball at the University of Southern Mississippi.

The 6-foot-9, 230-pound center and native of Abuja, Nigeria, will continue his athletic and collegiate career at the four-year institution in Hattiesburg, Miss. Ifeanyichukwu said he was very excited to continue his collegiate basketball career and, during his signing Nov. 15, expressed gratitude for his coaches, teammates and advisers who have helped him during his time at LCCC.

“I’ve achieved the goal,” he said during the signing. “This is a dream come true, a mission accomplished so I want to say thank you to everybody,” he said. Ifeanyichukwu will finish the 2012-13 year at LCCC. After he attends Southern Mississippi, he hoped to play professionally. He was also adamant about earning his degree, knowing it would help him after his basketball career. He also wanted to open basketball camps in his native Africa to help young people as well.
