Golden Eagles put wins in their pockets before Golden Eagle Classic

The Laramie County Community College men’s basketball team returned to the win column Nov. 10 and 11 after losing its Nov. 6 matchup against Casper College in double overtime.

Playing close games yet again during the weekend, the Eagles found a way this time around to finish the games off, winning 89—81 over the Fort Collin All-Stars and 71—70 over the Eastern Wyoming All—Stars.

Starting the weekend off strong Nov. 10 at the Eastern Wyoming Classic, Julian Chiera led the Eagles with 20 points, and Ude Ifeanyichukwu led the way in rebounding with nine. The win against the Fort Collin All-Stars was the second against the team in the early part of the season. The first encounter was during the opening weekend.

Coming back Saturday afternoon, the Eagles had to wait until the final second of the game to clinch the win, when Deshon Portley scored on a 15—foot jumper. Portley finished the night with 27 points while Chiera added 21 points of his own. Returning home this weekend the Eagles will host the Golden Eagle Classic beginning Nov. 16.
