Men's soccer team players earn Region IX honors

The Laramie County Community College men’s soccer team may be finished on the field for the year after its disappointing 4—2 loss to Western Wyoming Community College in the opening round of the regional tournament, but the awards keep coming.

On Nov. 5 three Golden Eagles soccer players received first-team All-Region IX honors including Gleydson Neri, Peterson Neri and Tyler Mangel. Gleydson Neri, who was also named the Region IX soccer player of the year, scored 16 goals and four assists for the (13—4—1) Eagles over the year while his older brother Peterson Neri dished out a team best 12 assists, adding four goals to his total. Defensively, freshmen Mangel earned a spot on the first-team.

Along with the three first-team honors, the Eagles also had three sophomores named to the Region IX second team, including forward Dewey Rodgers, midfielder Dino Soto and defender Hunter Britegam.

Finishing the honors, freshmen forward Dimitri Sofias, sophomore midfielder Luis Gonzalez, defenders Jalen Willett and Cody Smart and goalkeeper Daniel Ainsworth each earned honorable mentions for All-Region IX.
