Womens soccer has won two games in championship
The Laramie County Community College women’s soccer team has won two straight in pool play at the NJCAA Division I Championship and are currently in the semifinals.
The Golden Eagles defeated Schoolcraft College on penalty kicks then beat Eastern Florida State College 3-2 in overtime.
The Golden Eagles currently have an overall record of 19-1-3.
In the Golden Eagles’ win over Schoolcraft College, forward Jemma House scored in the 14th minute on an assist from midfielder Shauni Griffiths. House scored again in the 64th minute on an assist from midfielder Nikita Woods. Griffiths scored an unassisted equalizer goal in the 74th minute to tie the score 3-3. After two scoreless overtime periods, the game proceeded to penalty kicks. Schoolcraft missed a penalty kick and set up LCCC defender Aubri Schneider for the game-winning score.
In the Golden Eagles’ 3-2 overtime win over Eastern Florida State College, House scored an unassisted goal in the seventh minute. Griffiths scored in the 37th minute on an assist from House. Griffiths scored the game-winning overtime goal in the 99th minute.
House is currently fourth in the nation in goals, eighth in the nation in points and first in the nation in shots. Griffiths is currently seventh in the nation in assists.
