Wyoming Free Tax Service offers services to students

Laramie County Community College is the site of a free tax service for students and the community through the Wyoming Free Tax Service.

Volunteer Income Tax Assistance, Vita, uses IRS-certified volunteers who are available to prepare income tax returns for those unable to pay professionals.

Volunteers prepare only income tax returns for which they have been trained. Income tax preparation is limited to certain forms and schedules. Total income should not exceed $50,000 for this free service.

Those who qualify for this free service should bring a current photo ID, Social Security card or individual tax identification number for all persons on the tax return, all income documentation and deductible expenses such as mortgage interest paid, reeipts for propert taces charitable contributions, etc., and, if possible, 2011 tax returns.

This free service is offered in the Training Center, Room 103 on Mondays and Wednesdays from 5-7 p.m. until April 15. It is also available Saturdays from 9-11:30 a.m. until April 13.
