Eagles home winning streak cut short

The Golden Eagles could not match Northeastern Junior College in the second half as they fell 67–76 on Feb. 16.

The Laramie County Community College men’s basketball team had not lost at home since early December, but that streak is now snapped.

The Golden Eagles were tied at 28 with Northeastern, but could not match their opponent’s offense in the second half. LCCC did see strong production from Julian Chiera, who netted 26 points. Germaine Decoste and Patrick Stephens put up 12 and 11 points respectively.

The Golden Eagles went 0–2 against Northeastern on the season, losing previously in January against them.

LCCC was without its leading scorer, as Deshon Portley missed the game with an ankle injury. The team hopes he will be back for the regional tournament.

The men’s basketball team will play Feb. 21 in its final away game of the regular season against Otero Junior College. They will then return home on Feb. 23 to play the final game of the regular season against Lamar Community College.
