Longtime art instructor to be awarded

The Wyoming Art Education Association will recognize a longtime Laramie County Community College art instructor at its spring conference awards luncheon Feb. 28 in Cheyenne.

Matt West was nominated for the Wyoming Art Education Association higher education division award. He was chosen over the nominees from other award divisions as the Wyoming Art Educator of the Year 2015.

National Art Education Association President Elect Pat Franklin will present West’s Wyoming awards as well as the keynote address. He will also be honored by the National Art Education Association at the annual convention in New Orleans during the Pacific region awards celebration on March 27.

The Wyoming Art Education Association (WYAEA) is the leading professional association for Wyoming art educators, serving elementary, middle level, secondary, higher education, museum, supervision and administration, retired and preservice art educators. WYAEA, the state affiliate to the National Art Education Association, was originally founded in 1979 and re-established in 1999.
