Former student dies
in snowmobile crash

The son and grandson of a longtime former board of trustees’ member at Laramie County Community College died Jan. 10 in a snowmobile accident in Jackson County, Colorado.

Paul A. Kaiser, 29, of Cheyenne, and his son, Colin, died in north central Colorado west of Fort Collins. They are the son and grandson of John Kaiser, who served on the LCCC board from 1996 to 2012.

In an email to the college community, LCCC President Dr. Joe Schaffer wrote: “As some of you may know, Paul Kaiser was a student here at LCCC as well as serving on the campus safety staff. His son Colin, John’s grandson, was also a familiar face around the college, having participated in many of our youth activities. He and Colin were incredibly close, and I cannot think of many times when I didn't see the two of them together on campus or around the community.”

Paul was born Dec. 5, 1985, in Fort Collins to John and Debbie Kaiser. At LCCC, he was active in the music department’s choir. He was an information technologist for the state of Wyoming and a member of Element Church and St. Mary’s Cathedral.

Paul is survived by his parents and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Paul was preceded in death by his grandparents, Frank and Ingeborg Zima and Bernard and Rita Kaiser.
