Golden Eagles
pierce Lancers with victory

The Laramie County Community College Golden Eagles basketball team improved its record to 17-6 overall and 8-3 in Region IX with a lopsided victory over the Eastern Wyoming College Lancers 94-70 on Jan. 29.

The Eagles (4-1 Region IX South) were led by Forward Kamari Robinson, who scored 20 points at home. Robinson shot 60 percent from the field in the game, hitting 3 3-pointers. He is shooting 54.3 percent from the field on the year, making him the fourth most consistent shooter in Region IX South. He is averaging 14.4 points a game this season.

Forward Alexis Dargenton contributed a double-double for the Eagles by scoring 15 points and pulling down 11 rebounds. Guard Darien Fernandez had five assists and 17 points for LCCC.

The Eagles hit 51.6 percent of their shots from the field, including going 14-21 from beyond the three-point line.

The Eagles are on the road at 3 p.m. Jan. 31 against Western Nebraska Community College (7-13, 3-4 Region IX South). The WNCC Cougars are led by Sophomore Guard Preston Christensen, who is averaging 19.1 points a game this season. The Cougars also recently played EWC, beating the Lancers 92-69 Jan. 23.
