Wigand Brings Expert Advise to LCCC

The Curt Kaiser Memorial Ethics Fund will present Dr. Jeffrey Wigand on “Moral and Ethical Decision Making.” The presentation will be at 7 p.m. Monday, March 11, at Laramie County Community College’s Center for Conference and Institutes in the UnionPacific Centennial Room and is open to the public.

Wigand has held senior management positions for Johnson and Johnson and Pfizer. Wigand was the vice president for research and development for Brown and William Tobacco Corp. from December 1988 until March 1993. Wigand has also worked with governmental agencies investigating the tobacco industry.

Wigand exposed the truth about the industry’s disregard for health and safety during an interview with “60 Minutes,” which inspired the 1999 film “The Insider.”

Wigand has received numerous awards and public recognition for revealing tobacco company research and marketing practices. Wigand uses his nonprofit organization Smoke-Free Kids, Inc. to reduce teen tobacco use. The presentation is funded through the Laramie County Community College Foundation.
