Double duty soccer coach wins coach of year

Laramie County Community College’s women’s soccer coach, who also coaches the East High School team, was honored with two regional coach of the year awards from the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

At the national conference, which was held in Pennsylvania, Jim Gardner was named Rocky Mountain region high school coach of the year for his coaching efforts and victory in the class 4A state championship where Cheyenne East finished with a 13-2-2 record.

He was also named the West region junior college coach of the year after leading the Golden Eagles to a 18-2-3 record and a third-place finish in the 2013 National Junior College Athletic Association national championship tournament in Florida.
