Trustee earns prestigious award

A longtime Laramie County Community College trustee captured the top trustee leadership award Feb. 23 from the Wyoming Association of Community College Trustees.

John Kaiser, who has served on the LCCC board since 1996, was honored for his active participation in influencing legislation, for promotion of the policy governance system at LCCC and for involvement in the selection of interim and permanent presidents.

While on the LCCC board, he served as chairman for six years, vice chairman for three years, and secretary and treasurer for two years.

Kaiser proves to be useful

The nomination noted Kaiser "often challenges his fellow board members by asking tough questions. He is not content to go along with the popular opinion when he recognizes that the prevailing ideas may lead the college down the wrong path. His insight has been useful in ensuring the right discussions are made not only for today but also for tomorrow and the future."

Kaiser has been involved with WACCT including serving as chairman for four years and has served on the national board of the Association of Community College Trustees for six years.

He is involved with the Wyoming Agricultural Leadership Council, Wyoming Young Farmers Education Association, Knights of Columbus and Cowboy Joe Booster Club. He and his wife established an LCCC scholarship and have contributed to the LCCC booster club and music series.
