Deaf jazz vocalist to perform at college

Jazz artist Mandy Harvey has been lauded by critics, has two albums under her belt and is recognized as one of the most engaging vocalists in the region. She also happens to be deaf. Mandy Harvey will perform at 7 p.m. on Friday, April 19, in the Laramie County Community College’s Health Sciences Building, Room 111/113.

The free event is open to the public. Although she lost her hearing as a college freshman, Harvey has made her mark as one of the region’s best jazz performers. Harvey lives in Denver and regularly performs at clubs such as Dazzle Jazz Lounge and Jay’s Bistro.

Though her hearing loss is profound, her timing, pitch and passion are perfect. Harvey performs across the country and has two jazz albums to her credit, “Smile” and “After You’ve Gone.” This event is presented by LCCC’s Disability Support Services.
