Western team falls just short of Nationals

Four of Laramie County Community College’s equestrian team riders traveled on March 23-24 to Western semifinals in Syracuse, N.Y.

Kayla Fisk, Kelsey Jenkins, Adrian Parman and Jessie Johnson qualified for the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association competitions, of which there are only three across the country. During the two-day event, individual riders competed in “heat” classes on Saturday, vying for the finals class that was held Sunday. The top four riders from each individual Western equitation class will compete in the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association National horse show held to be in Harrisburg, Penn., May 2–5.

Johnson and Parman were the only riders from LCCC to qualify for the finals class on Sunday along with eight riders from various colleges and universities across the country. Parman placed sixth, and Johnson placed eighth in the final class. This did not secure a position for the national competition. However, four LCCC riders will represent the college.
