Rodeo teams place in top ten in Gillette

The Laramie County Community College rodeo team competed in its first rodeo of the second semester March 15–17 in Gillete, Wyo.

The team saw strong performances, and the women’s team scored 15 points to take ninth, while the men’s team took 10th place, racking up 125 points.

Dillon Simonson had an outstanding rodeo performance for the men’s team. He tied for third in steer wrestling where he put up 8.9 points. He also took sixth in tie down roping getting a combined score of 26 points. His 125 points tied him for fifth in the men’s all-around.

Hayli Bonham competed well in the team, roping as the heeler with a time of 8.5. Bonham’s effort was complemented by Shana Lyons, who took eighth in breakaway roping on a 3.9 score.

The LCCC rodeo team will next compete March 29–31 in Fort Collins, Colo., at the Colorado State University rodeo.
