finalist for presidency
at California college

Laramie County Community College’s vice president of academic affairs is one of five finalists for the presidency of Cerritos College in California.

Dr. Jose Fierro, who joined LCCC in 2013, will be on the Norwalk, California, campus on March 12 as part of a candidates’ forum. On March 15, the board of trustees will interview the candidates during a special board meeting.

In April and May site visits to the home institutions of the final two selected candidates will be conducted. Cerritos College expects the new president to assume the position on July 1.

The other four candidates are as follows: Dr. Monte Perez, president of Los Angeles Mission College; Dr. Peter Perhac, president of the Steamboat campus of Colorado Mountain College; Dr. Angelica Loera Suarez, vice president, student affairs, of Southwestern College in Chula Vista, California; and Dr. Rajen Ramalingum Vurdien, president of Fullerton College in California.

The position became open when Dr. Linda L. Lacy announced her retirement last year. Cerritos College is a public community college with an enrollment of more than 21,000 students.
