Eagles soccer player signs with Baker University

Laramie County Community College men’s soccer sophomore Cory Center has committed and signed a national letter of intent with Baker University in Baldwin City, Kansas. Center, who is from Boulder, Colorado, played multiple positions for the Golden Eagles.

“Cory is very versatile and plays wherever you need him without complaining,” said Vince Gibson, LCCC’s head men’s soccer coach. “We suffered some injuries to our back line last year, and he transitioned from a midfielder to a defender.”

In his two seasons at LCCC, Center made 21 career starts, scored three goals and had three assists.

“Baker had the full package in what I wanted—a high level of soccer and an opportunity to continue my education and connection in the business world,” Center said. He will study business administration.

The Wildcats, a NAIA program, finished 9-9-3 last season and captured their conference tournament title for the second consecutive year. The team has competed in the national tournament three of the last four years, including a run in 2011 when they were the national runners-up.
