Former LCCC students published in research magazine

Two former Laramie County Community College students were recently published in the research magazine “Journal of Molecular and Cellular Cardiology.” Samantha Haller and Kayla Wilson are the co-authors of an article titled “CARD9 knockout ameliorates myocardial disjunction associated with high fat diet-induced obesity”, which appeared in the magazine’s February issue.

During their time at LCCC, Haller and Wilson were members of the LCCC’s IDeA Network of Biomedical Research Excellence research group. Both students were supervised and mentored by biology instructors Ami Wangeline, Meredith Roehrs and Zac Roehrs, among others.

Haller graduated from LCCC in spring 2015 and transferred to the University of Wyoming to complete her physiology degree.

Wilson graduated from LCCC in spring 2014 and transferred to UW to complete her biology degree.
