Equestrian places first in Intercollegiate
Horse Show Association event

The Laramie County Community College equestrian team led, by coach Lanae McDonald, competed at the Intercollegiate Horse Show Association event hosted by the University of Nebraska in Lincoln on Feb. 18-19.

McDonald’s team placed second in all three horse shows hosted that weekend with Nebraska placing first. “We currently have three western riders qualified for regional competition, which is March 4-5 in Colby, Kansas, hosted by Colby Community College. The three riders are Lexi Anderson, Sabrina Johnson and Jordan Rudolph,” McDonald said.

Other highlights from this year include Taylor Wolken, who placed first in open reining in two out of three shows. Lexi Anderson placed first in the open reining. Sabrina Johnson placed first in the advanced horsemanship show. Jordan Rudolph placed first in intermediate horsemanship. Courtney Dilworth placed second in intermediate horsemanship and Andie Jensen placed second in novice horsemanship.

“Overall this season the team has been very successful and I am proud to have coached such a cohesive group of student athletes,” McDonald said.

The equestrian team has a busy season ahead. The team will go to Casper for the English Regionals on March 11 and the Western Semifinals on March 25-26.
