Soccer player verbally commits
to Buena Vista University

A Laramie County Community College men’s soccer sophomore has verbally committed to Buena Vista University in Storm Lake, Iowa.

Willy Salamanca had 31 career starts for the Golden Eagles and started every game as a sophomore in 2014. He netted eight career goals and dished out eight assists at LCCC.

“I was sold on the accounting program there, and with the soccer program rebuilding and rising quickly, it made this decision simple,” he said. “The campus is in a great location, and the small town environment is what I’m used to.”

Buena Vista University, an NCAA Division III program and part of the Iowa Intercollegiate Athletic Conference, finished the 2014 season 4-13-1.

LCCC men’s head soccer coach, Vince Gibson, said, “He’s a role model for student-athletes…his work ethic, will to do what is best for the team.”
