Eagles continue to dominate competition

The Golden Eagles continued to dominate in Region IX play with two more victories against Northwest College and Western Wyoming Community College on Oct. 12-13.

The No. 17 Laramie County Community College men’s soccer team improved its conference record to 8-0-1 following its victories while its overall record is now 10-3-1.

The LCCC team started the weekend with a home game against Northwest College Oct. 12. The LCCC defense was nearly impenetrable, as Northwest made only seven shots on goal throughout the contest, all of which were stopped.

The Golden Eagles’ Gleydson Neri continued to rack up points on the season, with two more goals. Dimitri Sofias also scored late in the game to give the LCCC team a commanding 3-0 win.

The team followed this performance with a come-from-behind win Oct. 13 against Western Wyoming Community College. The teams were scoreless for the first half and most of the second half until Western Wyoming broke the stalemate. Only minutes later, Neri scored to tie the game.

In overtime, Neri was the difference maker again as he scored the game winner. The LCCC men’s soccer team will play at home on Tuesday, Oct. 16, against Northeastern Junior College because the original game was postponed by snow Oct. 6.
