Women's soccer outshines competition

The 17th-ranked Laramie County Community College women’s soccer team continued to demonstrate why they are a force to be reckoned with late in the season on Oct.12-13.

With one week to go until the end of the regular season the Golden Eagles came out Friday night ready to play, as they pulled out a 1-0 shutout win over Northwest College. The lone goal scored in the game came in the minute 30, when Freshmen Sayit Mejia scored off a corner kick set up by sophomore Zahimara Fantauzzi.

Following the win, Head Coach Jim Gardner showed his appreciation of the team’s effort and said, “We’ve been shut out a couple times this season, so I’m really happy with the effort.”

Making a 180-degree turn Saturday afternoon, the Eagles saw their powerhouse offense recover from the low goal count Friday night as they tallied for seven goals in a 7-1 victory over Western Wyoming Community College.

The Eagles will finish the season Oct. 19 and 20 at home as they face off against Otero Junior College and Trinidad State Junior College.
