Women's soccer claims No. 2 seed for regional tournament

The Laramie County Community College women’s soccer team wrapped up its regular season schedule Oct. 20 with a 5-0 win over Trinidad State Junior College.

Following the game, LCCC head coach Jim Gardner said it was important they finished on a high note after leveling the season series against Otero Junior College Oct. 19 with a 3-1 win heading into the regional tournament. With the win the Eagles wrapped up the No. 2 seed for the regional tournament on Nov. 2-4 with a 10-2 overall record and a 9-1 regional record.

Looking back over the entire season, the Eagles’ lone nonconference loss came Sept. 2 against Butler Community College in the first game of the regular season in a 0-1 score. Following the loss the team went on to win the next six heading into the second half of play.

Heading down the home stretch toward the regional tournament, the Eagles finished the season strong with five straight wins dating back to Sept. 29, when they fell to Otero 0-2. Following that game the Eagles allowed only three goals the remainder of the season, including two of which came when the team was playing Western Wyoming Community College Oct. 13 and one when playing Otero Junior College on Oct. 19.
