Golden Eagles split home games

Laramie County Community College's men's soccer team split games at home on Oct. 17–18.

On Oct. 18 LCCC faced Central Community College-Columbus (6-8-1, 0-2) and  got a decisive win of 6-1. The Eagles scored four times in the first half and twice in the second. Dennis Vivar-Diaz had two goals along with three assists in the game.

Junior Quiroz also had two goals in the game with both of them coming within a minute of each other in the first half. Luis Morillon and Irving Mercado both had a goal to round out the scoring for the Golden Eagles.

Then, on Oct. 17, LCCC played Western Wyoming Community College (7-9-2, 3-3-1) in Cheyenne and fell in a close effort by the score of 2-3. Western Wyoming scored two goals in the first half, but LCCC also had a goal of their own coming from Willy Salamanca with an assist from Quiroz.

LCCC then tied the game up early in the second half with a goal from Irving Mercado and getting an assist from Quiroz. But Western Wyoming got the game winning goal at the 64th minute, which sealed the fate of the Golden Eagles.

LCCC (9-7-1, 4-4) will take on Otero Junior College (9-5-1),(8-4-1) on Oct. 25 at La Junta, Colorado, for the final regular season game for the Golden Eagles.
