College hosts workshop to help students suffering from addiction, depression and stress

Laramie County Community College Counseling and Campus Wellness are hosting the Rise and Empower Workshop Series this fall at LCCC. The next workshop is at 12:15-1 p.m. Oct. 19 in the student lounge.

The guest speaker, Lana Mahoney, is from Recover Wyoming and will share her stories about overcoming addiction followed by information on why people choose substances to cope. She will also discuss signs and symptoms of substance abuse and the resources available for support.

At 12:15-1 p.m. on Nov. 9 in the student lounge guest speaker with the Grace for 2 Brothers Foundation will make a presentation titled grief, loss and suicide.

The third workshop will be at 12:15-1 p.m. on Dec. 7, also in the student lounge. The workshop will cover stress unique to the holidays including financial pressure, loneliness, family dynamics and final exams.

Students who attend will be registered for door prizes and the May 2017 grand prize drawing for a Surface Pro 4.
