ASG to hold veterans' appreciation event

Laramie County Community College’s Associated Student Government and a student who is a U.S. military veteran will work together to create an event to honor LCCC’s veterans and allow students to show their appreciation toward veterans at the college.

On Tuesday, Sept. 27, ASG met with Mike Santana about the formation of a new Veterans Club. ASG has been in the process of planning an event for Veterans’ Day by having each member think of at least two ideas for the holiday, which will fall on 11/11/11 this year.

In other business, LCCC’s vice president of administration and finance, Carol Hoglund, will seek ASG member’s input on the new furniture that will be purchased for the lounge area at LCCC.

On Sept. 20 ASG decided to hold a social bash so that they could become more approachable to the student population on Oct. 11 where students can mingle among their peers while acquainting themselves with ASG members. The event will be held from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. in the student lounge.

Student government plans to follow up on the scholarship proposal they previously addressed in the coming weeks as well as creating an ad hoc committee to address issues concerning the spring book scholarships, which will not be available to students in 2012.
