Mobile Mapping GPS class available to students

Laramie County Community College will offer an introduction to Global Positioning Systems (GPS) class 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Fridays, Oct. 4-25, in Health Science Room 315.

The name of this one-credit-hour class is “Mobile Mapping GPS” (GEOG 1490-600), and it will be taught by Trent Morrell, instructor of geosciences.

“Mobile Mapping GPS” will teach students how to use GPS as a tool for mapping and to use Geographic Information System—mapping system that produces “smart maps.” Students will also learn to use state of the art GPS receivers and software, which allow a person to download, store, edit and export data. This will give students a chance for real-world experience in mapping, which is useful in any career field involving travel.
