Wingspan named as one of three national finalists

Laramie County Community College’s student newspaper has been named one of three finalists for a national Pinnacle Award by the College Media Association.

Wingspan is a finalist in the category of two-year less-than-weekly newspaper of the year. The other finalists are Pima Community College in Tucson and Santa Ana College in Los Angeles.

The Wingspan issues submitted for competition were Oct. 14, 2013, April 7, 2014, and April 28, 2014. Editors for those issues were Kasey M. Orr, Amanda Neely, Brooke A. Rogers and Daniel Martinez.

The winner will be announced at the 93rd annual Associated Collegiate Press/CMA National College Media Convention in Philadelphia Oct. 29 to Nov. 2.

Wingspan advisers are Rosalind Schliske and J.L. O’Brien.
