Mens soccer had its ninth win in a row

The Laramie County Community Colleges men’s soccer team won three games over the weekend to extend its win streak to nine games.

The Golden Eagles beat Northeastern Junior College 2-0 on Wednesday, Sept. 28 at Cheyenne South High School, Trinidad State Junior College 3-0 on Friday, Sept. 30 at the LCCC Athletic Fields; and Otero Junior College 4-3 on Saturday, Oct. 1 at the Athletic Fields.

The Golden Eagles are now ranked 17th in the NJCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Rankings.

Northeastern’s goalie Akim Larmond made it difficult for the Golden Eagles to get the ball through the net Wednesday night. Larmond had 12 saves, but he still wasn’t enough to stop the Golden Eagles from scoring. Goalie Andrew Hays kept Northeastern scoreless throughout the match and had four saves.

Neither the Golden Eagles nor Trinidad State scored in the first half of the match. Hays had seven saves throughout the match.

The Golden Eagles played in a close game with Otero. The unassisted game-winning goal came from forward Jorge Rosales. Hays allowed three goals but also had six saves. The next game is at 1 p.m. on Sat., Oct. 8 at Northwest College.
