College to host first round Region IX Tournament

The No. 13 Laramie County Community College men’s soccer team ended the regular season on a 13-game win streak with a 3-0 win against Western Wyoming Community College on Oct. 15.

Neither team scored in the first half, but midfielder Dana Smith scored in the 54th minute. Midfielder Jonathan Rulvacaba was credited with the assist. Midfielder Rafael Munoz scored an unassisted goal in the 68th minute. Forward Jorge Rosales scored in the 69th minute, and midfielder Blaine Christenson was credited with the assist. Goalie Andrew Hays had three saves in the match.

The Golden Eagles will host a first-round Region IX Tournament game Oct. 22. The opponent will be either Sheridan College or Central Community College.

Sheridan (1-13) is the lowest Region IX North seed. CCC (4-11) is the lowest Region IX South seed. The teams play a playoff Oct. 18 for the right to play LCCC.
