Women's soccer team ranked No. 6

The sixth-ranked Golden Eagles women’s soccer team is on a five-game winning streak, after defeating Western Nebraska Community College 6-0 and Western Wyoming Community College 7-0.

The Golden Eagles played WNCC at Cheyenne East High School on Wednesday, Sept. 21. The Golden Eagles took it to WNCC and they didn’t let up. Forward Jemma House earned a hat trick, with an unassisted goal in the 20th minute, another goal in the 25th minute that defensive midfielder Shelbie Myers assisted with, and her last goal in the 34th minute that midfielder Shauni Griffiths assisted on. Griffiths scored a goal in the 26th minute; the assist was credited to forward Dani House. Midfielder Aubrey Gessner scored the last two goals of the match. Gessner scored in the 48th minute with the assist credited to Griffiths. Gessner then scored an unassisted goal in the 60th minute.

House led the Golden Eagles in goals with three. Griffiths led the Golden Eagles in assists with two. Goalies Kelly Morine and Jess Urquhart kept WNCC scoreless throughout this match; Morine had two saves.

The Golden Eagles hit the road to Western Wyoming Community College on Saturday, Sept. 24. The Golden Eagles dominated WWCC throughout the match.

Midfielder Nikita Woods produced her own hat trick in this match. Woods scored an unassisted goal in the 35th minute, an assisted goal in the 64th with midfielder Abby Morillon, and an assisted goal in the 68th minute with midfielder Maria de Silveira. House scored two goals in this match: in the 13th minute with an assist by midfielder Natalie de Marco, and in the 24th minute with an assist by midfielder Shelbie Myers. Midfielder Elsie Atkins scored in the 23rd minute and the assist was credited to Griffiths. Griffiths scored in the 53rd minute and midfielder Abby Morillon was credited with the assist.

Goalies Kelly Morine and Jess Urquhart kept WWCC scoreless throughout the match; Morine had one save and Urquhart had four saves.

House leads the Golden Eagles in goals with 12 and is 14th in the nation in goals. House also leads the Golden Eagles in shots with 64 and is number one in the nation in shots. Griffiths leads the Golden Eagles in assists with eight and is 11th in the nation in assists.

The Golden Eagles are set to face Northeastern Junior College at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 28, at Cheyenne South High School.
