Team uses tournament for season preparation

The Laramie County Community College volleyball team jumped out to a 4-2 record at the Lamar Tournament held Aug. 24-25 in Lamar, Colo.

Head coach Darren Buckner said the most important goal at the tournament was getting each player on the floor during the games. In the past teams have been limited to the use of 12 players; however, this year they were allowed 16 because of a recent rule change.

Looking forward to the upcoming matches, Buckner said he would like to see a win against Casper College on Sept. 4 and at least two wins against the numerous nationally ranked opponents that will be present at the Twin Falls tournament Sept. 7–8 in Idaho.

Last season the team struggled to find itself early and returned only three sophomores. This year six returned, so the team looks ready to put up a fight against any opponent.
