Hathaway named new math, sciences dean

In addition to several new faculty, Laramie County Community College is welcoming a new dean for the school of mathematics and sciences as of June 30.

Kathy Hathaway comes to Cheyenne after being a member of the Faculty Teaching and Learning Center at Clover Park Technical College in Washington. She also served as dean of student services at Medicine Creek Tribal College, Puyallup, Washington, from 1994-2000.

Hathaway received a master’s in psychology from Pacific Lutheran University and holds a bachelor’s in psychology from the University of Puget Sound as well as an associate degree from Tacoma Community College. She is continuing her education by working toward her doctorate in adult education and higher educational leadership at Oregon State University.

She started teaching in 1992 and has taught undergraduate and graduate psychology courses for Chapman University, St. Martin’s University and Pierce College. Prior to her teaching career, Hathaway worked as a therapist and administrator in community mental health.

Hathaway was one of four candidates interviewed for the position.
