Eagles shutting down opponents

Laramie County Community College’s men’s soccer team is on a five-game winning streak as they go forward into the thick of conference action.

On Sept. 23 LCCC got a shutout win at home against Northeastern Junior College (1-7-1) 5-0. The scoring was two goals apiece for both Dennis Vivar-Diaz and Junior Quiroz, and the other goal came from Hector Rodriguez. Goalie Antonio Chairez had to save only two shots on goal the entire game.

On Sept. 20 the Eagles matched up against Sheridan College (0-7) in Cheyenne and won in another shutout fashion of 6-0. The top performer of that game was Vivar-Diaz again, accounting for two goals and one assist. Goalie Tyler Bishop saw only three shots on goal and saved all three to help LCCC get the shut-out.

Finally, on Sept. 19, LCCC got two early goals in the first half, which proved to be too much for Northwest College (3-3), where the Eagles won 2-1. Goals came from Vivar-Diaz as well as Brandon Flores.

Right now, LCCC is 5-3 overall and 2-1 in conference, which equates to third in the standings in the north region of Region IX. The Golden Eagles have games coming up against Western Nebraska Community College (3-1-2) on Sept. 26 and Utah State University College of Eastern Utah on Sept. 28. Both games will be at home.
