Top-ranked split

Women's soccer beats No. 3 ranked team, drops game to No. 2

Laramie County Community College’s nationally ranked No. 4 women’s soccer squad split games against other nationally ranked opponents during Labor Day weekend.

A dominate 4-1 win over the nationally third-ranked Butler Community College (0-3-1) squad was the first regular season win for the Eagles. The win was led by a great performance from Megan Campbell, who had one goal along with two assists over the Grizzlies from El Dorado, Kansas. Two goals within a minute of each other in the first half for LCCC were key for the first win of the brand-new 2014 season.

Navarro College (2-0-1), who is ranked second in the nation and the second challenge the women faced during the weekend, got a 1-0 win over LCCC on Aug. 31.

Looking ahead, LCCC (1-1) has two games on the road against Otero Junior College (1-1) on Sept. 5 and Trinidad State Junior College (3-0) on Sept. 6, both at 4 p.m.
