Weekend results mixed for women’s soccer

It was a tale of two games for Laramie County Community College women’s soccer team last weekend. Sept. 4, the Golden Eagle ladies lost to Otero Community College, but came back with a vengeance Sept. 5, against Trinidad State Junior College. Otero scored midway through the first period and never looked back. It was a defensive battle throughout the game. Otero took the game 1-0.

Sept. 5, however, was a different story against TSJC. LCCC routed TSJC 5-1. Sophomore forward Eden Stoddard led the way scoring two goals, both in the first period.

The Eagles have taken on stiff competition so far this fall. TSJC has been the only team the Eagles have played that were not ranked nationally. LCCC had been ranked No. 8 in the nation, but were dropped from the rankings in the last week.

After the weekend games, the team is now 3-2-1, and will look for another win at home on today, Sept. 9, when they take on Western Wyoming Community College with another home-field advantage at 4 p.m. and, as always, admission is free.
