Eagles shutting down regional opponents

The Laramie County Community College men’s soccer team improved its undefeated record in the region by winning two away games Sept. 19 and Sept. 22.

LCCC is 4-0 regionally after its wins against Western Nebraska Community College on Sept. 19 and against Northeastern Junior College on Sept. 22. The Golden Eagles defeated WNCC by a final score of 5-3 and Northeastern by a 5-0 score.

The Golden Eagles’ offense dominated the Northeastern team the whole game. In the first half Gleydson Neri put LCCC on the board first. The Golden Eagles barraged the opposing team with four goals in the second half. Fernando Perez had two goals, while Jesse Molina and Raul Gonzalez both popped in a goal apiece. LCCC’s record improved to 4-0 in Region IX.

LCCC played a solid game on Sept. 19 to earn its third win in the region. The Golden Eagles were first on the board with a goal from Peterson Neri. Western Nebraska came back though and scored three goals before Peterson Neri was awarded a penalty kick. Neri successfully scored on the penalty kick for his second goal of the game. Dino Soto scored minutes later to tie the game.

The second half was controlled by the Golden Eagles. Dewey Rodgers and Jesse Molina both scored to give the Golden Eagles a 5-3 win over the WNCC team. This marked LCCC’s third win regionally.

The LCCC men’s soccer team has their first home game Oct. 3 at 3 p.m. at the LCCC field. The team is now undefeated in Region IX with a record of 4-0 and an overall record of 5-3.
