Jake Sherlock is an award-winning journalist, writing coach, designer and instructor. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University of Wyoming, and his byline has appeared in several Wyoming newspapers, including the Wyoming Tribune-Eagle, the Laramie Boomerang, the Rawlins Daily Times and the Riverton Ranger.
In 2005, he won the Wyoming Associated Press award for Best Community Journalism Project with a yearlong health and wellness series, Shapin’ Up with Sherlock, which chronicled his attempts to quit smoking and get in better shape.
Sherlock spent six years as an assistant professor at the Missouri School of Journalism, where he taught courses in news editing and design. During his six years there, he held concurrent appointments at the Columbia Missourian, where he served as a news editor, the opinion editor and the presentation editor. Sherlock has also worked as an adjunct instructor in journalism for the University of Wyoming and as adjunct instructor for English composition at Pikes Peak Community College in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Outside of journalism, Sherlock was the director of marketing and communications for the American Numismatic Association, the world’s only Congressionally chartered hobby organization. He also provides marketing and public relations consulting services for small businesses in the Windsor, Colorado, area, where he resides with his wife and two children.
